Have you ever been down on your luck, can’t seem to net that trophy whitetail? If all else fails reference any bow hunters manual and it will surely instruct you to find the nearest over-hunted, under-populated piece of public land, sit on the ground and wait for the monsters to approach.

This is exactly what Travis “Flip” Anderson and Jake “Empty Quiver” Hinrichs did….and it worked….seriously. To call this game plan a Hail Mary is an understatement of epic proportions. Jake was quoted in episode 9 saying he was going to shoot “every arrow we have, until we are out of arrows.” When the boys ventured into this thickly wooded plot they were unable to find a tree to hang their stand, so they decided to take a seat in the dirt.

As Travis was sending an exuberant amount of unenthusiastic text messages to his less than thrilled partner he pointed out a shooter approaching about 75 yards out. With the buck advancing directly in front of them Jake attempted to get small behind some dried leaves. Although they had ten arrows at the ready Jake needed only one. Who says public land isn’t prime hunting?
